Green Space Landscaping

There's a lot that goes into beautiful landscaping. Each step we take is made to ensure your green space will look beautiful for generations.

Subgrade Grading

Grading is one area that must be done right. Too many wet basements attest to grading gone wrong. When your home is on a slope or at the bottom of a slope, it's even more important.

Subgrading directs water away from driveways, basements, and sidewalks. It eliminates ponding, too.

Topsoil

We always recommend spreading a good quality humus 4" deep for lawns. This ensures water retention for your turf. During hot summer months, you'll be glad you have great topsoil. It reduces the need for irrigation.

Lawn enthusiasts: If you want the best, ask for 6" of topsoil. Ensure there are lots of nutrients and water for your lawn. If your home has naturally sandy soil, our humus can really help.

Final Grading

When the subgrading is done right, the final grading is icing on the cake. We make sure you've got no puddling and that your topsoil is spread to the right depth.

Pulverizing

We prepare by pulverizing your soil. This gets air into the soil. Seeds need oxygen to sprout.

If you have a new home, you've had equipment driving over your yard. Our pulverizing ensures there are no compacted ruts. It also rids your yard of dirt clumps that sometimes occur.

Dry Seed

We go the extra mile in our dry seed application. After your yard is prepped, we lightly rake in the first layer of seed. Then, we broadcast an extra layer on top of that. This ensures fewer washouts if you get a rain. It also embeds the seed into the fine top of the topsoil.

The first layer that's raked in is our Rapid Gro. It comes in like green velvet. The second layer is Get Creative's Green Blend -- either sunny or shady. Check our Maintenance Sheet for care tips.

The raked in layer is protected from wind, rain, and sun. While your Green Blend is on top, the Rapid Gro is tucked in and sprouting. We put a little extra into our green spaces, and it's worth it.

This extra layer of seed is above and beyond standard landscaping practice. We've found it's the best way to avoid bare spots from wind or rain.

Hydroseed

Hydroseeding has all the advantages of our Dry Seed Application, plus a little extra. We start with raking in our Rapid Gro dry seed layer. Quick-sprouting, we love this stuff!

Hydroseed is a great option. The seed is mixed in a water solution with tactifiers and binders and a bit of green dye (optional). Tactifiers, binders, mulch, seed, and dye are shot into the top layer of fluffy topsoil.

Tactifiers and binders help hold everything together. The fine mulch grasps your seed. It keeps a little extra water near your seed and also helps to protect it from washouts, sun, and wind.

If you want, ask for fertilizer in your hydroseed mix for an extra boost. *Do not apply fertilizer over the hydroseed. We use a fertilizer specially made for this application.

Sod

Oh, sod. Lovely, lush turf is nurtured, grown, pampered and delivered to your home. It's the fastest way to a green lawn and definitely instant gratification.

Our Creative crew lays your lawn, staggering and trimming the seams for a tailored fit. It's tempting to lie down right away on it and watch the clouds, but hold on. You've got a little bit of watering and care before the root system fully digs in. Check our Maintenance Sheet for help.

Plants

Our plants are all high-quality, large nursery stock. They're delivered to your home, inspected, and placed in the planting beds.

Our designer is often on site for final placement. Then, each one is planted and watered. Often plants are the final touch on your beautiful, new landscape.
